Our students are learning language and content at the same time. I teach Newcomers and Beginners, which means my students are at the beginning stage of language learning. To make matters worse, most of these students are from low income households. Accessing content is a huge problem because most don't understand the language. My intention is to make language learning as natural and seamless as possible to enable students to acquire the language they need to grasp content. I have requested a stand up desk and word games because these types of games can be very important in helping students access English. I am certain that with the exposure to the language, my students will be able to make progress in all their content areas. This to me, is the definition of success for English language learners. I send all my thanks in advance for your kind consideration. Thank you!
