I would like to have more inclusive instruction this year. Our special education students and general education students would both benefit academically and socially from keeping ALL our students in the classroom, rather than pulling out our students with autism for separate instruction. The tablets will help our students with special needs stay in the classroom by using supportive apps, facilitate partner and group work, and create an engaging classroom for all students. There are several apps that will help our students, including math supports where students can have access to digital graph paper, calculators, or digital manipulatives so they can participate with the other students without needing to leave the classroom. In addition, the read aloud software on the tablets allows students who receive reading support to engage in the same materials as their general education peers without requiring separate instruction. Tablets are exciting and create engagement which will help facilitate social relationships with our children with autism and their peers, and will allow us to create meaningful, technology-based tasks for all our students.
