This year I am placing a very strong emphasis on reading independently. I think students who come from low-income families don’t have the same opportunities to enjoy exploring books. I have already purchased books for a classroom library, now I am hoping to create an inviting place for students, with this rug, so the students will learn to love literature. With this inviting space, students will feel more inclined to enjoy a good book and experience a love for reading. This will be a staple in my room for many years to come. I cannot wait to see how a simple environmental change can capture student interest.
