These books will give students a chance to have the actual text in their eager hands. Students will each get to experience the text and illustrations on their own and as a class throughout our Civil Rights Heroes Unit. This is a very important unit to have text and pictures for students to reference. The Chicago based land yards will be used throughout the year as an incentive for our students throughout the reading block each day. Scholars that are caught working on task and transitioning well will be awarded the land yards to wear during their next reading rotation.
