Hello! My name is Makenzie Colton and I am super excited to start my first year of teaching at WHE in second grade. I will have around 24 kiddos that will fill up my classroom and keep me company all year long. One of the components that I would like to have in my classroom is flexible seating. Flexible seating gives students the opportunity to learn and practice their skills in the most comfortable way. Coming from a person that has ADHD, I was the student that always needed to stand up while working and even wiggle back and forth in my chair. I have a habit of swinging my legs in my chair or even tapping. This is just my “learning zone”. I want to be able to help my students that fidget as well, I would also like to create a classroom with flexible seating options to give my students that opportunity to find their learning zone where they can do their best work. I would really appreciate any donations towards my classroom for flexible seating. I want to say thank you in advance for supporting me on my journey.I have chosen a variety of materials that will be used for flexible seating in my classroom. The more variety I have to offer my students the more students are engaged in learning. My goal is to reach all needs of my students through providing a comfortable learning environment.
