The picture books that I have listed will be used to guide kindergarten students in their writing. By examining these great books together, my kinders will see how authors and illustrators tell stories, share opinions, and teach others about interesting topics. In the beginning steps of writing it is of the upmost importance for children to have great examples of different genres at their fingertips. I am so excited to have The Word Collector by Peter H. Reynolds in my classroom and in front of my kinders to use when teaching about word choice in their writing. The example given by this great author will help the children be aware of the words they are using in their stories. This is just one of the many great books on this list - so thank you for making a difference in my teaching and the education/resources available to these children.
