The achievement gap suggests that students of color fare worse in comparison to students, who are not of color, especially in terms of math and English language Arts. I have always, as a Latina, specifically chosen to work in low-income Black and/or Latino communities with a commitment to lessening the gap. This year, I have, proudly, joined a 6-12, all boys school. I continue to commit myself to diminishing the achievement gap as well as breaking down the school-to-prison pipeline. All of my current and future projects are designed to provide resources, for my students, that will make this possible.
