In first grade, we do a lot of learning on the carpet in the front of the classroom. However, without having a defined space, students often struggle with staying focused during this learning time. A seating rug will allow students to have their own, defined space during learning time, but will also allow them to have other students close by to share their thoughts and ideas with. This will allow students to feel comfortable about their personal space and will give these young learners a visual definition of where their space is. My first graders will be able to focus on learning and not have to worry about where they will sit.
