I have lots of students at my school who love to read. I have many who are avid readers who would love a chance to discuss books with their peers in a group setting. I also have many readers who are on the fence about their feelings on reading, but who could be encouraged by those who like reading more. We plan to discuss the book The Hate U Give as a way to begin a book club. Upon discussing it, I plan to take the group to see the movie in October as a reward for their efforts. Having the books provided will ensure that more students can participate since they will then only have to pay for the field trip and not also the book cost.
