As a new teacher, there are so many diverse titles that have been released in the last few years that I don't have access to in my classroom. In my inner-city classroom, representing families from seven countries, the students and I love to read stories about people from around the world showing diverse characters. Currently, I have to borrow the books from the public library. However, that does not give the students the opportunity to read these books after I have finished them because they need to be returned. I have a book stand in the front of my classroom where I like to highlight new books and the students eagerly wait for the opportunity to read them.
