In my experience, first graders have the ability, if supplied the technology, to excel in exploring and creating in ways that I never imagined they could. In past schools that I have observed, first graders were developing and presenting power point presentations, creating unique online books, and exploring mathematics in fun and engaging ways, all through the use of Chromebooks. Around half of the students in my class experience the effects of poverty outside of school, these students deserve the opportunity to utilize Chromebooks to explore their own abilities and gain skills that will serve them the rest of their lives. I have recognized a massive disadvantage my students face with the lack of access to technology in a world that requires knowledge of technology to be successful. The advantages of having a few Chromebooks in my class would be truly limitless, I want my students to experience learning in ways that students in wealthier communities do, I believe this will take us one step closer to the equity I dream of seeing in education. Thank you for considering this project.
