I teach a variety of students with different learning needs. My students range from advanced choir students to non-verbal students with autism and everything in between. Having a new set of classroom instruments will allow all of my students to experience music in new and exciting ways. My special education students will use the hand percussion instruments and Ukuleles to further their musical skills. They will use the scarves to demonstrate their understanding of musical concepts while moving their bodies to recorded music. I am very excited to give my non-verbal students more opportunities to participate in music class that do not involve singing. My choir students will use the Ukuleles to further develop their rhythmic sight reading skills. They will also acquire the skills necessary to accompany their own singing on an instrument and develop a greater love for music. They will use the hand percussion instruments for rhythmic improvisation and composition projects meant to deepen their understanding of rhythm and allow them to independently create their own artistic works.
