Students in special education classes will have the opportunity to develop behavior management skills by being given a time-out space and activities to help them learn how to manage their classroom behavior.
PBIS has a few important principles:
•Every child can learn proper behavior.
•Stepping in early can prevent more serious behavior problems.
•Each child is different and schools need to provide many kinds of behavior support.
•How schools teach behavior should be based on research and science.
•Following a child’s behavioral progress is important.
A donation to this project will help keep our students engaged and reinforce positive behaviors. This project will support students by giving them a "cool-down" place when they become angry or disruptive in the classroom. My classroom has a cozy corner with a rug - we are just missing the pillows. As the special education teacher, I will work with students to develop meaningful behavior plans which will provide some hands-on activities for students to help them calm down such as kinetic sand, sensory jelly beads, and a rewards variety pack.
