Picture books to don't get enough credit. They are a great way to teach literacy and social skills to students of all ages. There are so many books out there that go in-depth into the skills that middle schoolers are expected to know. Picture books are a great way to introduce new topics and ideas from a variety of cultures to students. They are also a great way to give students an entire story each time you see them. This gives teachers an opportunity to learn literacy skills in an authentic way that they can see repeated across multiple stories each day instead of just one story that takes multiple days or weeks to read through as a class.
