Guided reading benefits students' word recognition skills, fluency, and comprehension. During these small groups I am able to guide students through the chapter book, working on individual skills that are needed. By donating to our project, you will allow students to choose books according to their own interests at their individual reading level. The guided reading groups are based on interest and reading level. This year I have 10 boys and 6 girls. I chose some book titles like, Jackie & Me and By the Great Horn Spoon to appeal to the boys in my classroom. I also have a wide range of reading levels in my classroom this year. I want to have a large variety of books to fit each group's reading ability. The books that I chose range from third grade to fifth grade levels. The leveled books will promote independent readers.
