Our school is a public, charter on the Southeast side of Chicago. We are adding one grade level per year until we serve 550 students in grades K through 8. We currently serve 347 students in grades K through 5, 87% of whom qualify for free or reduced lunch and 100% of whom identify as a person of color. This is our school's inaugural year of in-house music and it is our goal to provide all of our students with the highest-quality music program possible. We have developed a rigorous, standards-based curriculum that requires the use of various instruments and manipulatives. All requested materials assist in educating our students visually, aurally, and kinesthetically so all students can be led to success, regardless of ability. It is my vision to have obtained all necessary materials for our students by the end of next year so that our students can reach their full potential academically, socially, and musically.
