My goal is to develop a large classroom library that gives every student the ability to see a representation of themselves on the shelf. These books will give students the opportunity to identify with people in a way they have not been able to before. Having a greater selection of diverse books in our classroom library will also give students the space to learn about various backgrounds. Reading these books together will generate meaningful connections and conversations about diversity. I am excited to use these books as a tool to help students celebrate and embrace what makes them unique, while watching students continually being inspired by what they've read.
