I have always wanted to learn more about AVID, and what an AVID classroom looks like. I just attended an AVID conference in which I was lucky enough to work with AMAZING teachers (K-2) from all over California. It was during this 3 day conference where I decided I was going to take on flexible seating in my classroom, STEM bins and really get organized...AVID organized. On my list of items requested you will notice pencil boxes, LEGOs, pipe cleaners, popsicle sticks, etc. These items will be used to create my STEM bins for my first grade students. They are a wonderful way to encourage learning opportunities that include science, technology, engineering and math. I have also requested a bookcase, toolbox, organizing drawers, etc. to organize books, center work and center materials for my flexible seating centers. These items will not only benefit my students, but it will also prepare them for the years to come . We as a school plan to carry these AVID strategies/ skills throughout all grade levels.
