Not every student has the opportunity to learn to play an instrument, but a desire to be a part of a team that performs. The students in the Color Guard program are those students that have a love for music and the opportunity to perform. While this color guard team is one that many see as a viable element in marching band, they are not funded and the support for the "look" of excellence goes unnoticed and unsupported. In an effort to ensure that my students have the opportunity perform and build their esteems in the arts, it becomes necessary to focus on attire that will exude the spirit of excellence, pride, and focus on performance. Uniforms give students a sense of belonging and creates an identity for each individual within their particular activity. These shorts will be consistently used throughout the entire season, both fall and spring. Whether is a halftime show, parade, UIL competition, or rally, the bottoms is one of the most essential pieces for the students uniformity and comfort. As a team, when they show uniformity, they are more committed to one another as well as the entire group. The sense of pride that comes with wearing a uniform will certainly inspire them to live up to team standards and expectations. They become loyal to the team and encourage growth, sure to gain momentum and success in the future.
