Students come to the carpet to listen to lessons, share their thinking, and interact with one another. A rug is an essential part of our classroom because it is where we will spend most of our time as a class learning from each other. I want to create a classroom that encourages my students to be comfortable sitting with each other sharing ideas. My students need an area that is comfortable and inviting. On the carpet my students will listen to a lesson, engage with others, and demonstrate their ability to actively participate in lessons. This is more than just a rug; it's a meeting area.
