Gathering highly engaging materials can be a challenge. Time for Kids and other non-fiction literature, provide vivid illustrations and current events that intrigue students. Students need to have materials in their hands to help them stay engaged. Individual magazines will provide opportunities for students to annotate and investigate the reading material on a personal level. It will also allow students to practice research based comprehension strategies to help them become more proficient readers. Classrooms that have reading material readily available, offer more opportunities for individual student interest choices. They have access to books easier than going to a school library once a week.
