The supplies needed for this project will greatly increase direct student participation and understanding of the living world as life exists in units calls cells. Access to microscopes will open the door of worlds within worlds for my students as they explore the structure of cells and tissues and the microscopic world of pond water protists. Students will be able to make connections about how a single cell functions on its own and also in support of a larger organism as it forms the tissues of organs and organ systems. Students will have the opportunity to explore life from the single unit cellular level to the whole organism level. Supplies for this project will be used over the course of several units to pique student interest in the structure and function of living things on earth.
