Our school is a Title 1 school in a low income area. Many of my students come to school the first day never having been in a classroom before. They are nervous yet excited to begin school. They all are so inquisitive and enthusiastic! The one thing my students always say when I ask them what they want to learn most during the school year is they wish to learn to read! It is such a privilege to share the excitement and joy of books with them for the first time. My wish for each one is that they will become readers who desire to discover the newest adventures in the pages of a book. One of the resources that is missing in our classroom is a listening center. In order to help them become better readers, a HamiltonBuhl HECWNCCD3856SV Basic Cassette/CD/AM-FM Listening Center would be an invaluable addition to our reading program.. Each day students can listen to a book being read to them as they follow along with a real print book. This experience teaches them how to read from left to right, how to decode words, to read with expression and to use pictures to predict what the words say. They can choose a favorite book and listen over and over until they can "read" it by themselves! It can bring books to life and help young readers learn to be excited about reading. This can be the beginning of a wonderful relationship with books that will last a lifetime and help students become Super Readers!
