This year is completely unpredictable for everyone. I do know sadly that this is not a time for children to share their personal items. In the past when a child would come to school and forgot their pencil I would let students share their pencils or I would assign a student to sharpen the class pencils (I have an electric sharpener). This cannot happen this year. In an effort to stop the spread of germs and to make sure students are prepared, I would like to give students a brand new sharpened pencil each day. They can take their new pointy pencils home to do their work required for remote learning. They do not need to bring the pencil back as I will supply them with a new pointy pencil the next time they see me. For me, this is the best way to ensure that students will have what they need and not spread germs among each other. In addition, who doesn't like writing with a new freshly pointed pencil. I know I love it. It just sets your mind right and ready to learn (well, at least for me it does.).
