These materials will help motivate students to continue to do their best and work hard even when they get discouraged. Third grade is a difficult year for students as they move from being second grade babies to big third grade testers. Dance parties, Kerplunk, Wheel of Fortune and MORE!!! These are all activities that students enjoy and that get them excited to be at school. Motivating students is one of the greatest challenges teachers face, but is one of the most critical factors to success in school. Think back to sitting in school for 8 hours a day when all you wanted to do was get outside and ride your bike with friends or play your video games. These students are expected to focus and produce quality work all day while staying quiet. Finding fun and exciting ways to get them up and moving or just eager to do their best is what this project is all about. Students will have the opportunity to have dance parties with the disco ball and led lights by meeting their reading and writing goals. They will be able to earn points for good behavior and choose a glow in the dark prize from the treasure chest. The kerplunk game and spin wheel will allow students the opportunity work toward prizes over longer periods in efforts to teach them about endurance and perseverance. Finally, students will be able to wear Super Power glasses that will give them special "powers" as they read and write during class.
