This school year, I've been inspired by one of my co-workers to implement a flexible seating arrangement in my classroom. I have witnessed firsthand the success she has seen through the use of wobble stools, rolling stools, floor seats, etc. Big, bulky, hard, and uncomfortable desks are becoming a think of the past. Children cannot freely move and one desk takes up entirely too much space in a classroom. As a math teacher, this is valuable space that could be devoted to special math center areas. I've selected two different styles of stools and one rectangle table to get me started on the flexible seating journey. By finding a seat that makes them feel comfortable and at ease, my students will then be able to apply more focus on the academic and social goals before them.
