Many of my students are voracious readers and I want to open the doors for them to explore these wonderful books written that bring math closer to them such as books that talk of Math History, Art and Math, Architecture, Space, Infinity and beyond, biographies of famous mathematicians and even fascinating folk tales and stories. Students will get to experience that reading is more than what they do in Language Arts and see that there is a connection to every subject and math. I'm requesting a variety of books including City: A Story of Roman Planning and Construction, Round Trip, Euclid's Window : The Story of Geometry from Parallel Lines to Hyperspace, Flatterland: Like Flatland, Only More So, The Adventures of Penrose the Mathematical Cat, The Tale of Three Trees, The Joy of Pi, and A Piece of the Mountain:The Story of Blaise Pascal. I want to roll out this library in class for handy and immediate references and reach-outs when we have lighter days during learning. The students will also be able to choose books that interest them. The best way to connect them to reading and math is via this project - to help enrich their experiences with the math world at their imagination.
