This request would support a flexible seating and student-centered classroom redesign that I would like to make for my students. I have worked diligently to make a classroom environment in which my students feel comfortable and engaged. I have utilized the space/furniture provided in the classroom in a way that shows that students often need a variety of seating/learning environments. I have purchased lamps to minimize the use of harsh fluorescent lighting. I have a small reading nook in which I’ve provided more comfortable seating (rug with pillows and soft chair). However, this is just the tip of the iceberg. In researching flexible seating for the 21st Century classrooms, I continue to be reminded that classrooms of today need to reflect the changes of our student’s world…a fast paced world full of choices and collaboration. These stools would provide flexible seating to facilitate collaboration in a variety of learning environments. These stools are lightweight, can be moved and stacked easily or tucked under the tables, to accommodate our classroom needs.
