Currently, we are implementing, and institutionalizing a mentoring program on our campus, that focuses on our most “at-risk” population, our young men. The purpose of the program focuses on instilling various skill-sets and characteristics within these young men who struggle with not only academics, but also, self-regulation, self-motivation, and most importantly, “internalizing their locus’ of control.“ Ideally, the goal of our program is to improve academics, decrease the number of social/behavioral issues/referrals, while also reinforcing the behaviors needed for longitudinal, sustainable quality of life, and success. The products we need are basic snack foods and supplies, as well as post-its, sharpener, flashdrives.
