Ukuleles are fun, engaging, and developmentally appropriate for children. Many students would love to learn to play an instrument, but not very many have the opportunity. I want these instruments to help create a life long understanding of music for my students. I primarily want to use these with my 2nd and 3rd graders to help prepare them for reading music, listening to chord patterns, and possibly going on to enjoying band and chorus in the future. Aside from that, developing a good ear is vital for students listening skills. Working with an instrument also helps develop hand eye coordination and fine motor skills.

About my class
