Students need to be able to read and comprehend nonfiction books just as much as narrative texts. At least 50% of a classroom library should consist of nonfiction books, as well as span 2 grade levels above and below as to reach more students. Having access to these books will provide students to learn more about various Science and Social Studies topics as well as have a wider range of levels to choose from. The books will allow students to continue to develop their reading identity, and expose them to new and interesting topics that they may have not had a chance to read about before.
