The Scholastic News magazine and Science Spin supplement will provide my students with interesting, standards-aligned reading materials. Each student will get a copy of both magazines every month, which is far more often than they are used to getting new books or magazines. This subscription will provide my students topics and information to discuss and share their learning and interests around the dinner table with their families. China, volcanoes, the brain, space, endangered animals and video game development are just some of the topics that my students want to learn more about. Kids are so much more motivated to read when the topic is interesting and relevant. The variety of articles in Scholastic means that there is something for every reader! Scholastic is doing an awesome job of keeping up with the times. Along with the subscription my class will get digital tools including videos, read-alouds, Spanish translations, and fun review games. We will be reading, writing, and listening, all while learning about news and developments going on in the world today!
