My students are absolutely amazing. I have twenty-five students who are with me all day long. I have three special educations students after lunch. We are a title one school with declining enrollment. There are some students who do not have access to pleasure reading books at home. So it is up to me as their teacher to provide as many books for those specific students as possible. Other students have access to books at home. For those students I would like to expose them to different types of books than they are normally used to reading. Most of the books in my classroom library are picture books I can use during my instruction. I would like to get some great chapter books and novels for them to read. I had a student tell me the other day, "I just need there to be more books in here so I can pick different books, instead of the same ones." I completely agree with this student. I would like to increase the size of our library, affording them the chance to pick what they like.
