My project includes whiteboards, dry erase markers and erasers. Using personal whiteboards allows all students to show their thinking privately, helping quieter students to show what they know in a written rather than oral fashion. This is an excellent tool to get all students engaged. Mistakes are key to learning and brain growth, especially in biology class; having the ability to make mistakes and erase them until there is deep comprehension makes whiteboards an essential classroom tool. I also teach my biology students about being environmentally friendly, so using whiteboards instead of paper that will end up in the recycling or garbage is a fantastic way to make globally-minded students.
