The children's literature and building kits will help the students in my class explore endless building possibilities. The stories will help the student's imagination by capturing their attention and curiosity. I know it will give my classroom the opportunities for STEM related discussions. These colorful model building sets will allow the students to take their ideas and unleash creativity by build anything they can dream of. K'NEX and Lego offer educational engineering toy sets that are durable as well as providing unlimited modeling ideas. Student learning and interest will increase as they explore and develop building experiences during centers. While I’m working with students in guided reading/math I will assign students to read a story in the library area then rotate to an area where they can build a project from an assigned task or create their own model. Literature for example from Kobi Yamada welcomes an idea that isn't going anywhere its just getting started. This process will greatly benefit our children's path to better understanding of STEAM subjects.
