When students listen to books they hear smooth reading, which will allow my students to become fluent readers. They will have the tools to read smoothly and with expression. My students will also have the chance to talk about the books that they listen to, which will promote social skills in our classroom. My goal is for my students to be excited about reading for the rest of their lives. Having a listening center in the classroom will allow my kids to listen to new books that they may not have heard of. Listening to these books will create an excitement in my students about reading and create life long readers.
