These materials will help my students develop their literacy skills in a play-based, developmentally appropriate way. The repeated, hands-on practice will deepen my students' phonics, phonemic awareness, and writing skills. When used during our daily literacy centers and reading groups, these materials will provide the independent and guided practice needed for my students to become confident readers and writers. Their love of reading and writing will grow. Their ability to problem solve and take risks when reading and writing will become second nature. Without these concrete materials, many of my students may feel discouraged, unsuccessful, or unmotivated.
