A majority of these students come from low-income or poverty households. I am a new teacher and I have zero books for my classroom. I'd love to give them some new books to help close the achievement gap, increase their vocabulary levels and understanding of basic rhetoric, and help them love to read! I'm using books like "Walk Two Moons" and "Holes" among others for the students to read about children their age who struggle with difficult decisions. My students will be able to identify with the characters who are learning and growing in these stories and reflect on their own similar experiences.
