I have learned in my years of teaching that we are not all meant to sit in a table and chair to do our best work! As we look at adults in the world, we often see people making changes that work best for them, whether it be standing in the back of the room, finding a place they can stretch out a bit, or more. I want to help my students to see that they should be in touch with their own needs, advocating for themselves. Some days they may need a wobble seat to get their wiggles out, and some days stretching out in a camp chair may work the best. By having multiple seating options in the classroom, they can find a spot in which they can do their best learning, collaborating, and overall work! Learning to make powerful and successful choices is a great lifelong skill! I want my students to be empowered 21st century learners who can work together in a variety of arrangements, configurations, and teams. They are capable of greatness!
