While our school has stellar music and drama programs, due to space and money constraints, our school has not been able to fully develop an art program. All these materials, paper, paint, paintbrushes, paper mache masks, string art, and scratchboards, will provide our students with diverse opportunities for creativity through art. This year we are creating time and space for our students to explore their creativity through art and creative writing, and these materials are essential to this endeavor. Students will practice letter and font design through making graffiti boards. They will learn about color value scales and other painting essentials. Students will use the scratchboards and string art materials to ultimately create designs of their own imaginations. They will also use many of the materials, to create a mixed media self-portrait. Students will learn about the history of masks in various cultures and then create their own paper mache mask to represent themselves. Our students deserve chances to express themselves and these materials will help tremendously!
