In the 2018-2019 academic year the history department at our high school will be revamping our curriculum to have a significant focus on primary sources. During every unit in both US history and World history, scholars will conduct in-depth investigations of primary sources to solve history's greatest mysteries and questions. Breakout EDU is a high engagement software that allows scholars to both have fun and learn at the same time. During Breakout EDU activities, students will work through puzzles together teaching perseverance and that learning is a process while fostering their confidence in themselves. During these activities, clues to solve the puzzles or mysteries will be hidden in primary source documents. Working on a timed challenge motivates them and brings out their competitive side. Escape rooms are so popular right now, so embracing the trend with academics only makes sense!
