I believe physical activity is absolutely necessary in a general music classroom, so I would like to forego chairs when at all possible. My current classroom is a blank canvas with an expansive tile floor so I'm looking to put something on the ground where we can all sit and engage in music-making together. This would also serve as a safe space for movement activities such as dance, providing a soft surface for knees, elbows, and feet. The specific rug I've selected will also serve a teaching purpose as it displays a music staff where I can provide a visual aid for standard music notation.
