As technology is advancing at an increasingly fast rate, student attention spans have become much shorter. The days of having a student sit at a desk for seven plus hours a day and receive a quality education are over. As teachers, there is only so much we can do to be as interesting as their iPads or cellphones are. One thing I know is that people learn best when they are comfortable and also when they are given options. I have been dreaming of trying flexible seating for the last couple of years, but along with the expenses of school supplies, books and student incentives, financially it is difficult. Some of the flexible seating options I would like to bring into my classroom this year are; yoga balls for my bouncy kids, wobble stools for my kids who need constant motion, and lap desks and keeling mats for my kids who prefer working on the ground.
