Flexible seating is research-based and proven to improve students learning. Research shows that flexible seating improves student learning in a variety of ways. Firstly, flexible seating gives students choice and control over their learning environment. This allows students to feel comfortable and empowers them to learn their best! Furthermore, flexible seating fosters a community of learners. Because students share different seating options and supplies, students learn to work collaboratively and solve problems. Finally, flexible seating increases focus and productivity by allowing students to appropriately move and feel comfortable in their environment. If funded, my students will use the seating on a daily basis to help engage in their learning! I have many students who would benefit from the chair bands to minimize their need to move their hands. The clipboards will allow the students to decide on low distraction areas of the room to allow them to concentrate on their assignments. We have to meet our students where they are, and as everything in our world evolves, this can include the setting of the classroom and how students learn.
