All day students are sitting at their desks working on different assignments for math, English, social studies and science. However, when they are expected to jump into different world with different characters they are expected to do it from the same seat they just finished their algebra work. When you grab a great book and dive in, aren't you normally cuddled in bed or somewhere you feel comfortable? You are not usually sitting at your desk working on yet another assignment when you are expected to fall in love with a character or learn to love a different genre of literature. In order to fight dragons, travel the world, do magic, or learn true literature most students cannot just be sitting in a desk, a student needs to be comfortable in their own element, and allowed to enter into whatever work makes them feel connected to their characters. Please help me give my students a reading nook that will allow them to fall in love with literature. A place they can cuddle up with a good book and really fall into it. The students need to be able to lay down on a small carpet, or onto a pillow and know that for forty minutes the only thing that matters in the characters and the problem in the book!
