My students design thermal energy devices. When we test these designs, the time it takes to open the device and read the thermometer alters the results. The non-contact thermometers will make it possible to test the devices without changing the results. All the science classes in the building will be able to use the thermometers. The chemistry labs need quick readings without having to place the thermometer into the reaction. The non-contact thermometers will allow students to take more readings during a reaction and keep us from cleaning chemicals off of the regular thermometers. We teach our students that accuracy is important and these thermometers will help us achieve a higher level of accuracy during experimentation.
