My students attend an overcrowded middle school in NY, with about 1400 students. Our school is well organized and truly is a family. We make every effort to help our students succeed. My students are mostly ESL. I teach 6th and 8th grade. They are in my Science class with native English speakers. It is very difficult for the students to understand most of the material. Some of these students also come from homes that are impoverished. They do not have a computer, Internet access, or even books/basic school supplies. My ESL students are hard workers, respectful and overly grateful for the help and understanding that I can give as a teacher. Their determination and dedication in my Science class has been unwavering and I hope to continue that trend. The ESL students work especially hard to hand in projects and papers that help them achieve good grades. They always hand in projects on time. With a little more guidance, their projects would be even better.
