These materials will help me teach social emotional skills to my students. When children are unable to regulate their emotions independently, their academics suffer. I want to use these books to provide visuals and examples of healthy strategies for handling upset. Math and reading are important, but so is the social emotional well-being of our children. The Dalai Lama once said, "When educating the minds of our youth, we must not forget to educate their hearts." These books are the guides for educating my students' hearts. And for those of you wondering...yes! Sixth graders love being read to too! The impact of social emotional learning transcends the four walls of a classroom; it has the potential to change our world.
