Research has shown that flexible learning environments can promote engagement and learning. Using bean bags as seating options not only provides a fun and different way to learn, but it also is a good motivational tool. Students often see sitting in something other than a desk as a privilege and a reward. I have used bean bags in every year I've taught, and they really do go a long way in helping with classroom management. Students tend to try harder and behave better when allowed a reward of sitting on the bean bags. Something so small can really go a long way.
