One of my coworkers let me borrow her document camera last year, and I was amazed at how much it not only improved my teaching, but how it improved learning. This made explaining math worksheets a breeze. The doc cam helps clarify instructions, allows you to leave an example on the board, and helps students interact with the content. We used the camera for every subject last year, but she needed to take the document camera back for her own use. I cannot imagine teaching without one, it has made classroom management, engagement and understanding the content so much better!
